We are a Rwandan Bank that aims to be the pride of the country by delivering an integrated set of products and services across personal and business banking.

The bank was incorporated on 25th May 1963 as the first commercial bank in Rwanda as Banque Commerciale du Rwanda (BCR). In December 2004, BCR was privatised and acquired by Actis a pan-emerging markets private equity firm and the Government of Rwanda after recapitalization of the Company’s equity, giving ACTIS 80% shareholding.

REMA is responsible for ensuring that environmental issues and climate change are integrated into Rwanda’s development. Specifically, we are mandated to:


• Mainstream environmental concerns and climate change across all sectors to improve performance and productivity
• Reduce Rwanda’s vulnerability to climate change
• Control pollution and ensure environmental regulations for sustainable development are complied with
• Support environmental research and planning for sustainable development and livelihoods
• Strengthen environmental governance

was established by law Nº12/2017 of 07/04/2017 which gives it mandate to perform career criminal investigative functions. This mandate was formerly under the responsibility of the Rwanda National Police - Criminal Investigation Department since its establishment in 2000.
